The shad fishing was slow, which is a little unusual for this time of year. But I'm sure it'll pick right back up. We managed a few white perch and decided to chunk up a few a little ways down river. The catfishing was slow too, but I lucked out with one blue at 37.5".
Not a monster by James River standards, but still good times.
Good times indeed! What in the world is going on with the shad bite..... very strange that its not every cast by now. They seem to be very picky this year, especially the past 2 days.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's definitely been off. I know there's some BIG stripers in the area.
DeleteMy buddy was shocking fish for the dgif earlier this week. He sent me pics......WOW is all I can say
ReplyDeleteThat's a huge blue. I'm looking for a fish like that on a fly. People have caught 40+ inch catfish on the James using big rabbit strip flies.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know guys who have done well in the summer catching monster flatheads on fly.
